Toledo Zoo internship

I served as a graphic design intern at the Toledo Zoo from September 2023 to April 2024. Throughout this internship, I acquired a variety of skills in both print and digital media. My primary responsibilities included designing signage for the numerous events hosted at the zoo, along with other internal print projects.

Print projects

Elephant Baby Bash

During my internship, I was given the opportunity to create the branding for an event to celebrate an exciting time during the duration of my internship: a baby elephant being born!

I created a logo, chose a custom gender-neutral color palette, and designed A-frames, event signage, and a custom coloring page!

Valentine's Day post

I was tasked with creating playful "dating profiles" for some of the zoo animals in honor of Valentine's Day. These profiles were shared on Instagram and Facebook.

This post garnered significant attention, with viewers feeling engaged and eager to visit their favorite animals at the Toledo Zoo.

Midnet Media internship

I had the opportunity to intern at Midnet Media for two summers, where I honed my skills in the Adobe Suite and experienced the dynamics of working at a design agency with a diverse clientele.

My primary responsibilities included crafting Facebook posts, writing blog articles, and updating websites for several of Midnet's retainer clients, including Miami Erie Propane, Snack-Time Vending, Makely Painting, and Sunset Cylinder Exchange.

Kate Hemmelgarn Interiors website

During my internship, I was given the opportunity to design the website for a local interior design business owned by a woman named Kate Hemmelgarn.

I was provided with the logos created my the designers at Midnet Media and a few photos they took of her office space. I enjoyed being able to create a website based off of certain parameters and brand guidelines.

I worked with Kate to talk about her design process and added a page to her website that mapped out how she approaches new projects.

Whitney Family of businesses promotional display

During my internship, I had the chance to create a captivating display for these companies within a local airport.

I was able to visit these businesses and see what they do, as well as collect several pieces of memorabilia and merchandise to enhance the physical aspect of the display.
